ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Everyone appreciates the importance of a winning smile. It makes a pleasing appearance, promotes self-esteem, and is valuable to social and career success. Creating beautiful smiles is what orthodontics is all about. Today, orthodontic treatment is convenient and affordable, so that individuals from childhood through retirement can enjoy its important benefits. Orthodontics is important not only to a great smile and improved self-confidence, but to better dental health. By aligning teeth and improving the harmony of the lips and face, orthodontics can improve one’s general attitude toward life. Teeth, and sometimes entire facial structures, are permanently changed by orthodontic treatment. Teeth in correct alignment are easier to clean, and that can make them more resistant to decay and less susceptible to gum disease and tooth loss. Alignment may also prevent tooth and jaw discomfort that can come from uneven wear.

Metal braces

Metal braces are the most commonly used type of brace. The technology used in making metal braces has come a long way and they are more comfortable and affordable than ever before. Metal braces are made of stainless steel and straighten your teeth using a combination of brackets and archwires. They are also customizable. You can have colored elastic bands to suit your personality and have your braces be more appealing to you.

Ceramic braces

Ceramic braces offer the effectiveness of metal braces with the benefit of being less visible. This is a great option for patients that are concerned with the cosmetic look of having braces because they aren’t easily noticed, but maintain the effectiveness of metal braces. There are some downsides to ceramic braces, though. Patients have to be more careful and selective in the foods they eat because the ceramic is more brittle than their steel counterparts. Also, because they are larger, ceramics tend to be used more frequently on upper teeth rather than the lower teeth.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces are metal braces that are positioned behind the teeth rather than in front. This is nice because it allows the braces to be completely unseen in your mouth. Lingual braces also are completely customized to fit the unique shape of your teeth. This type of brace is recommended for models, athletes, musicians, and professionals.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a set of removable, comfortable, and invisible aligners used to straighten your teeth. Because they are completely transparent, nobody can tell you are wearing them. A major benefit of Invisalign is that they are removable, allowing you to eat and drink whatever you want while in treatment. Brushing and flossing are also much easier. Because the aligners aren’t made of metal, they are also more comfortable and gentle on the mouth.
